According to PayPal’s recent announcement, the worldwide online payment company has launched its cryptocurrency trading and payments platform. The online system will be available for all eligible customers in the United States.
PayPal mentioned that it has ended its waitlist for customers looking to use cryptocurrency in the U.S. trading features with a limit of $20,000 per week. The payment provider aims to make crypto payments available at 26 million merchants around the world. PayPal will be notifying its U.S, customers about the feature of crypto services in the coming days.
Dan Schulman, CEO of PayPal, said that the initiative supporting cryptocurrency was driven by what he sees as an undeniable trend towards digital currencies.
The CEO added:
“The shift to digital forms of currencies is inevitable, bringing with it clear advantages in terms of financial inclusion and access; efficiency, speed and resilience of the payments system; and the ability for governments to disburse funds to citizens quickly.”
On October 21, PayPal announced to join the cryptocurrency market, allowing customers to buy, sell, and hold bitcoin and other virtual coins using the U.S. digital payments company’s online wallets.
PayPal also affirmed the customers will be able to use cryptocurrencies to shop at the 26 million merchants on its network starting in early 2021 and for cryptocurrency payments, PayPal users will be able to purchase crypto directly through the app.PayPal’s Crypto Trading Feature is Live Now | Coindelite News
