Japanese Company Develops Blockchain-based E-voting System

Layer X, a Japanese-based firm has announced that it has developed an electronic voting system based on a blockchain protocol. It also mentioned this move is a part of a wider “smart city” initiative that is being pursued by Tsukuba city.
The firm included in its announcement that the new initiative will meet the technical aspects of electronic voting. The features also include prevention of double voting, precise storage of voting content, voter confidentiality, and management of operation records.
Using the platform, voters can check their own voting results through cryptographic making sure that the record and aggregation process for the votes on the blockchain network is performed without any mistakes.
Layer X added that through its new platform, it seeks to push for a shift towards electronic voting in local governments. It also explained that it is working to establish efforts aimed at solving technical issues related to the digital transformation (DX) of several administrative services.
