HTC To Launch its Blockchain-Based Phone

HTC, the Taiwanese based company will be launching its much-hyped blockchain phone, the Exodus 1. People will have to sign up to the website for preorders. The new phone will have a wallet which is kept in a secure area protected by the Android OS. The wallet can hold the keys and users’ cryptocurrencies. People can buy Exodus 1 only using Cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin or Ethereum.
The new phone’s first announcement was made in May 2018. Phil Chen, Chief Decentralized Officer, HTC said that Exodus 1 would act as a node for facilitating Bitcoin trading among users. Mr. Chen announced that the phone would allow its users to own their identity.
In case if the phone is lost or the users misplaced their key information, they can recover the details. The phone has an inbuilt social key recovery mechanism. The recovery can be made using a few trustworthy friends who can help the users find their phone.
The Exodus 1 has a 6-inch HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone has 16-megapixel dual rear cameras and 8-megapixel dual selfie cameras with a bokeh effect. The phone can record full 4K video at 60 FPS and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. Exodus 1 also has 128GB of storage capacity, and a 3,500 mAh battery and 6GB RAM. It runs on Android Oreo and is dust and water-resistant with a rating of IP68.
Users can purchase the Exodus 1 by spending 0.15 BTC or 4.78 ETH. The shipping of the phone will begin in December. The phone will be available in 35 countries and regions. But, it will not be available in China due to the country’s crypto regulations.
