Google Play Store Contains An Ethereum Scam App

The Next Web reported on August 21 that Google Play Store had hosted an Ethereum Scam application. Slovakia’s malware researcher, Lukas Stefanko said that a scam app was found on Google Play Store. The fraud app which offers to purchase Ethereum costing €335 to $388.
Stefanko tweeted about the Scam application on Twitter. He stated that the application is not the same as an Ethereum purchase. He further stated that the application was intended to cheat people by charging particular amount while downloading.
His tweet further revealed the scam application was titled “just an Ethereum” (Google Translated). The application mentioned itself to be developed by Google Commerce Ltd. Around 100 people had already installed the scam app, but now it is unavailable on the Play Store. At the time of writing, Ethereum was trading at $285 according to Coin Delite Price Chart.
Recently, a report revealed that there are more than 15,000 bots on Twitter which promote cryptocurrency scams. The research was conducted by ITPro where they checked 88 million Twitter accounts. It has found bots, malicious files, and more on the social media platform.
These bots are created in such a way which can comment itself, the tweet itself, and more. Therefore, these bots create fake accounts using genuine names. They join the top stories to tweet and share the link of scam projects to cheat people.
