Blockchain, the cryptocurrency wallet provider will be hosting the “largest crypto giveaway in history.” The firm wants to disperse $125 million in Stellar Lumens (XLM) to its wallet users who will sign up for the airdrop. The firm announced that the first batch of coins will be distributed this week.
Blockchain has decided not to reveal the amount of XLM to be given away during each airdrop. The airdrop is planned to ease the pathway for crypto-newcomers as registering on exchanges, jumping through KYC procedures.
The whitepaper of Blockchain says:
“Airdrops, on the other hand, provide a free and transparent way for anyone with an internet connection and a computing device to obtain crypto-assets at no cost.”
Mr. Marco Santori, Blockchain President and Legal Officer, said that airdrops are capable of decentralizing networks without any investment risks inherent in ICOs and the complexity inherent in mining. Mr. Santori added that the airdrop is planned to allow users to test, try, trade and transact with new, trusted crypto-assets safely and easily.
Blockchain thinks that the XLM giveaway and its airdrop program will raise awareness about cryptocurrency and its versatility. The company has also collaborated with Stanford d.school’s tech wing, code.org, charity: water and Network for Good to further XLM adoption.
