Stephan Thomas, CTO, Ripple stated that American Express might be using Ripple’s xRapid. In an interview, he expressed his thoughts on Ripple and its growth. It is well-known that Ripple is constantly gaining more clients. From banks to institutions, Ripple’s blockchain payment method is quickly gaining adoption.
During the interview, Thomas confirmed that American Express (Amex) is using Ripple’s platform. Amex is one of the leading financial service providers in the world. The company is using Ripple’s platform (xRapid) to process the millions of transactions they handle.
Furthermore, he revealed that Western Union is also looking forward to adapt Ripple’s platform. He also hinted that American Express might be already testing xRapid. He said that few companies have agreed to use xCurrent and xRapid. Big companies such as American Express and Western Union are testing his company’s platform.
Ripple As A Blockchain
As a growing company in the financial sector, Ripple has brought many financial giants closer to the blockchain technology. Ripple is one of the leading payment service providers in the world.
Thomas said that Ripple has primarily been a payment company. This has been in their DNA. Ripple was never dogmatic about what they acknowledge to apply blockchain. There is a bit of blockchain in all of our products.
According to him, XRP is more decentralised than bitcoin due to the high centralisation of hashing power by four major mining pools. Discussion on XRP ledger would be something he would be interested in.
