AI And Blockchain Could Revolutionize Indian Welfare

Indian Defence Minister believes that blockchain technology, and artificial intelligence (AI) and big data will form part of the future of warfare. According to the news from the Times of India, Rajnath Singh highlighted the potential of blockchain, including big data and AI, in defense operations. The minister was a part of delegates from 80 countries in Delhi, Singh appeared under no illusion about India’s plans to access innovation as the global industry evolves. India will schedule its annual defense conference, DefExpo 2020, in February.
The minister explained:
“The role of AI, big data and blockchain technologies has already revolutionized the existing paradigm of warfighting. The defense industry is undergoing a churning to cope and employ these technologies, in order to safeguard the safety and security of the critical infrastructure.”
While speaking about cryptocurrencies, India has been against adopting the concept for a very long time. The recent controversy against Facebook’s Libra was also marked against the country.
Nirmala Sitharaman, India Finance Minister said that like many countries, India is also showing a high degree of caution regarding Facebook’s Libra. During an Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington, D.C. that included a discussion of the Libra project, Sitharaman expressed her views on allowing Facebook’s Cryptocurrency in the country.
“On our side, the Reserve Bank Governor spoke about it during our turn to intervene. I got the sense that many countries were cautioning on rushing into this […]. Countries will have to show extreme caution much before anything is said or moved on this.”
